Electrosoft President and CEO, Dr. Sarbari Gupta, spoke at the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Annual National Capital Area Chapter (NCAC) Conference on Cybersecurity held at the Holiday Inn, Arlington, VA on March 16, 2016. The focus of this year’s conference was “Preventing the Breach.”
While the implementation of effective cybersecurity is a multi-dimensional exercise, the ability to authenticate the identity of users is a key foundational element. Passwords have long been known to be “broken” as a method of identity authentication – yet, sensitive and critical online systems continue to allow password-based authentication. Dr. Gupta’s presentation focused on the state of authentication mechanisms used within the Federal government, barriers to use of strong authentication and a roadmap for Feds to demonstrate leadership to curb devastating data breaches through improved authentication.
