Electrosoft Subject Matter Experts facilitate the evolution of HSPD-12 and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) June 16, 2016

Electrosoft is pleased to announce that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released several publications that support the ongoing evolution and advancement of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) for Federal employees and contractors.  Electrosoft subject-matter experts participated in the development of these NIST publications as co-authors. The publications include:

SP 800-156 Representation of PIV Chain-of-Trust for Import and Export

NIST SP 800-156 provides a common XML-based data representation of a chain-of-trust record to facilitate the exchange of PIV Card enrollment data. The exchanged record is the basis to personalize a PIV Card for a transferred employee and also for service providers to personalize a PIV Card on behalf of client federal agencies.

SP 800-166 Derived PIV Application and Data model Test Guidelines

NIST SP 800-166 contains the requirements and test assertions for testing the NIST SP 800-157 Derived PIV Application and associated Derived PIV data objects implemented on removable hardware tokens and within mobile devices. The tests reflect the design goals of interoperability and interface functions.

SP 800-85A PIV Card Application and Middleware Test Guidelines (SP 800-73-4 Compliance)

The objective of this document is to provide test requirements and test assertions that could be used to validate the compliance/conformance of two PIV components – PIV Middleware and PIV Card Applications with the specifications in NIST SP 800-73-4.
