The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Software and Systems Division (SSD) has awarded Electrosoft a follow-on task order to continue NIST Profile Analysis and Comparison Tool (P-ACT) support. To help improve healthcare software quality and accuracy, P-ACT compares Health Level Seven (HL7) v2 message definition specifications and provides navigational and summary reports of the comparison analysis. Under the one-year task order, Electrosoft will update an initial version of P-ACT and elevate the tool to a production version.
“Having correct, reliable, robust and interoperable software is crucial to our nation’s healthcare infrastructure,” said Mike Tillman, COO of Electrosoft. “We are pleased to continue supporting the NIST team dedicated to advancing healthcare information standards that are complete and testable, so stakeholders can safely and effectively share essential healthcare data.”
NIST SSD collaborates with industry, standards organizations, consortia and government agencies to build tools and prototypes that advance the adoption of IT and advanced test methods within healthcare systems. HL7 is a set of standards, formats and definitions for developing and sharing electronic health records. HL7 v2 is a clinical messaging format that provides data about events that occur within a healthcare organization.
